Iron Meets Equity: A Review and Framework for Technology Adoption in College Admissions

Abstract

This review paper examines sector-level shifts in admissions, focusing on the adoption and implementation of digital tools that mediate student application, evaluation, and selection. We comprehensively review the literature on technological shifts in admissions and introduce the Iron Meets Equity (IME) framework to understand these sector-level changes. This review highlights how digital tools are adopted and implemented for organizational purposes as well as their implications for equity at the individual, organizational, and system levels.
