Abstract

This paper explores systemic and dispositional factors connected with leaders of North Carolina schools. Drawing from survey results and a document analysis, the study identifies transformative dispositions and factors influencing perspectives and practices of leaders within schools designated ‘low-performing’ by the state. The findings highlight the need for policy improvements and strategic approaches to promote readiness for change in NC education. The study contributes to the understanding of how educational leadership can address social inequities.
