Abstract

This study explores staff perceptions at a private, Catholic university on the path to becoming a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). Through a qualitative case study approach, this study investigates how staff understand their roles, the resources available, and the institution's commitment to supporting Latine students. Interviews with staff revealed a deep desire for more information and the need for cultural shifts. These findings offer valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by emerging HSIs with implications for other institutions navigating the transition to better serve diverse student populations, particularly Latine students.
