Abstract

This paper explores the experiences of two practitioner-scholar doctoral students aspiring towards participatory research against the well-documented limitations of capacity, yet with the undervalued asset of lived experience. We analyze our experiences with qualitative pilot studies to demonstrate the validity of our designs for epistemic justice. We highlight the impact of our participatory data collection and analysis, which establish a foundation for deeper engagement in our future dissertation research. We conclude that we have centered participant voices for a collaborative arc of work, if not within an isolated study.
