Abstract

Abstract
This research investigates whether the PISA 2018 global competence attitudes item fits into the psychometric properties of intercultural attitudes theoretical framework by Bennett (1993) and Hjerm et al. (2020) that possess a broader research tradition. This research selects variables from the PISA 2018 database for the Philippines population from a non-Western context with three criteria: respect, appreciation, and adaptability. They were calibrated using polytomous item response theory graded response models. Transgender validity was assessed by Measurement Invariance (MI). Upon examining the item characteristic curves, the results exhibit strong reliability (Cronbach's alpha coefficient α = .93) of the final 15 items. A Scalar measurement invariance was achieved and concluded higher mean scores of respect and appreciation for males than females.
