The Inclusive Graduate Programs (IGP) project advances equity in physics graduate programs, where significant racial and gender inequalities persist. IGP is a multiyear project bringing together 12 research-intensive physics departments to advance equity through an institutional change model addressing policies and procedures as well as values and perspectives, especially those held by majority identity persons with power. IGP has built foundational relationships through in-person visits to all 12 departments and a Chicago Convening. Departments were directed to take a systems approach and include the voices of students, centering an intersectional approach. Each created a change plan addressing areas of equity advancement, identified barriers and change strategies, and have embarked on data collection, self-reflection, and processes of advancement.
