What Brilliant Black Girls and Families' Believe About STEM Role Models

Abstract

In this study, Black girls were found to have deepened understanding of developing capacities in STEM education and future careers through in-person and media-based role model experiences. Parents found value in the inclusion of Black STEM women role models. Role model confidence levels increased through participation. Black girls were inspired by their role models and expanded existing STEM idea silos.
