Abstract

In this paper I explore the importance of context in the process of seeking understanding for behaviors that may be considered "developmentally inappropriate" from the perspective of the global north/west. Through the use of Video Cued and traditional ethnography influenced by philosophical hermeneutics, I seek to expand on concepts of "developmentally appropriate," with the understanding that concepts of development are informed by cultural traditions and values.
