Abstract

This study examines how collaboration/partnership supports emergent bilingual learners learning and teacher candidates’ professional growth in e-service-learning.¬¬ The findings indicate that young learners enjoyed getting to know the college students and were inspired to thrive. However, the study’s findings also disclose the many challenges faced when teacher candidates virtually tutored young learners. Nevertheless, the findings of this study indicate how vital community building and communications are in maintaining the collaboration between higher education and community partners. To ensure the project’s success, learning to listen to the community and meet with the community partner before and during the project are essential.
