Abstract

Surveys in educational settings offer critical insights into the perceptions and experiences of students, parents, and teachers. When these surveys include anchor (common) questions across multiple surveys, they present a unique opportunity to triangulate data. This enhances the reliability and validity of findings. This paper utilizes anchor questions from the Michigan Voice suite of surveys to examine student, parent/guardian, and educator perceptions about belonging. Do students, parents/guardians and educators view belonging in their school communities through the same lens? Utilizing data triangulation from students, parents/guardians and educator surveys, we aim to uncover comprehensive perspectives that reveal underlying issues which will inform effective and more targeted interventions that will reinforce school improvement plans.
