Abstract

This study examines teacher job satisfaction across China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United States using the Weighted Balance Satisfaction Instrument (WeBS). Significant differences in job satisfaction were found, with Indonesia having the highest and China the lowest levels. Key predictors included school culture/climate, intrinsic motivation, and emotional stability. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses revealed unique predictors within each country. The findings highlight the importance of supportive work environments and suggest that cultural and contextual differences play crucial roles. The results provide insights for educational leaders to develop strategies to enhance teacher satisfaction and retention, addressing the global teacher shortage crisis. Further research is recommended to explore these factors in diverse cultural contexts.
