Abstract

The intricacies of the specific lived experiences of young women of color across the diaspora in predominantly White, elite independent schools are often underexplored. There is a salient need for more research that: a) portrays young women of color in comprehensive ways, b) includes young women of color from the diaspora, and c) occurs in independent schools. This research calls attention to their nuanced experiences and becomings. While there is an emerging body of work focused on their experiences, significant gaps still exist in current research. Building on this understanding, this study addresses the gaps that overlook the variation and complexities of existence experienced by young women of color across the diaspora in independent schools.
