Family Services for Students With EBD (Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities): An Overview of Reviews With Meta-Meta-Analysis (Poster 7)

Thu, April 24, 5:25 to 6:55pm MDT (5:25 to 6:55pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Exhibit Hall Level, Exhibit Hall F - Poster Session

Abstract

This study conducts a qualitative overview of reviews with a meta-meta-analysis of the literature on family services for children and youths with EBD. Twenty-one articles were included in the overview and six articles are included in the meta-meta-analysis. Our findings indicated that family services were effective in reducing EBD symptoms when compared to a comparison group, and the effect was estimated to be medium (g= 0.319). There was no significant effect heterogeneity nor significant risk of publication bias. Family services not only show promising effect but also align with the family participation spirit in special education law. This second-order systematic review synthesized the available evidence and provides future directions for research on serving children and youths with EBD.
