Exploring the Relationships Between Learners’ Self-Reported ADHD, Childhood Spatial Experiences, and Multimedia Learning Performance

Abstract

The study investigated the relationships between learners' self-reported ADHD, spatial/non-spatial activity, and their learning performance in a visuo-spatially rich multimedia-based learning environment. Statistical analysis revealed no significant correlation between childhood spatial/non-spatial activity and adult ADHD scores. However, we observed a correlation between spatial/non-spatial activities and multimedia learning performance. Learners who demonstrated higher proficiency in spatial cognitive activities tended to exhibit better learning performance outcomes. We can use this knowledge by implementing and encouraging spatial activities in a child's youth to support better multimedia learning in the future.
