Wed, April 23, 12:40 to 2:10pm MDT (12:40 to 2:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 108

Abstract

Enrollments in online programs have grown significantly, driven by technological advancements and increased accessibility. Online doctoral programs, once questioned for their effectiveness, have become viable options, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which accelerated online learning adoption. Despite this growth, faculty face substantial, often unrecognized workloads in mentoring doctoral students. This study investigates how institutions manage doctoral advising workload in online programs. Findings suggest a need for equitable workload policies and better compensation. Expanding the study to other online doctoral programs aims to provide broader insights into addressing these challenges.
