Abstract

Abstract

The definition of student success in higher education has expanded beyond traditional metrics like retention and graduation rates to include a more comprehensive view of students' experiences. This literature review advocates for a broader understanding of student success, emphasizing that current measures often neglect crucial aspects such as well-being, mental health, and social engagement. Although institutions focus on quantitative outcomes like timely degree completion, they frequently overlook the broader challenges students face. This review examines social factors affecting student success to suggest ways institutions can create more inclusive and supportive strategies, ultimately improving outcomes and addressing equity disparities. The findings underscore the need for a student-centered approach to redefine and enhance success in higher education.
