Fri, April 25, 9:50 to 11:20am MDT (9:50 to 11:20am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 709

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Generative AI, specifically ChatGPT, on pre-service teachers by evaluating their perceptions before and after its integration into higher education curricula. Using a mixed-methods approach, we collected quantitative data through pre- and post-course surveys and qualitative data from students' weekly reflections on ChatGPT activities. Results indicated a significant positive shift in perceptions, with pre-service teachers reporting enhanced engagement and usefulness of ChatGPT in their learning process. These findings underscore GenAI tools’ potential in supporting teacher education and fostering interactive learning environments.
