Abstract

This study contributes to and advances the exploration of the impact of adult support on the mental health of trans students, utilizing minority stress theory. Utilizing data from the 2021 Wisconsin Youth Risk Behavior Survey and structural equation modeling, this research examines how adult support can mitigate the impact of peer victimization and moderate suicide attempts among high school students. Findings underscore a critical need for robust school support, amidst escalating restrictions on support for trans youth in educational settings. This research offers valuable insights for educators and policymakers, helping them address current sociopolitical challenges and provide effective support to trans and LGBTQ+ youth.
