Multimodal Literacy Practices Within a Community Learning Center: Exploring Local Social Issues Through Media Production

Wed, April 23, 4:20 to 5:50pm MDT (4:20 to 5:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 608

Abstract

The study explores how multimodal literacy practices can foster community engagement, critical thinking, and social awareness at a community learning program for adults from 24-to-72 years old. Findings suggest that collaborative media production enhances participants' understanding of local issues and develops their multimodal communication skills, contributing to both individual empowerment and community dialogue to address social issues impacting their local community.
