Abstract

This qualitative study examined the experiences of seven graduate students in an affinity group for students of color in a teacher education program. Findings revealed that the affinity group facilitated the development of a supportive community, enhanced participants’ confidence in their professional and academic roles, and provided valuable knowledge for their personal and educational growth. Participants also reported a heightened sense of belonging and validation through their engagement in the group. The study highlights the effectiveness of affinity groups in addressing the unique needs of students of color and offers insights into strategies for fostering inclusivity and support within educational settings.
