Abstract

This longitudinal study highlights key learnings from a transformative journey alongside Elder, Knowledge Keepers, and communities to restory and renew reconciliatory practices across a teacher education program alongside pre-service teachers. The unearthing of thousands of Indigenous children found on Canadian residential schools is a reminder of the atrocities, genocide, and histories of erasure and systemic racism, which are not just a part of the past, but have carried forward. Since the commencement of what evolved into a “Braided Approach” project, over 350 Education pre-service teachers/students, instructors and faculty have participated. This research is significant as it emphasizes the impact of experiential learning in teacher education programs as we work towards building a more relational, inclusive, and just curriculum for all.
