Sat, April 26, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Exhibit Hall Level, Exhibit Hall F - Poster Session

Abstract

The paper explores a large-scale design-based research project on Distributed Language Learning Environments (DLLEs) using technologies like Virtual Reality (VR), mobile devices, paper-based tools, and cultural artifacts. Key elements include the VR-based Panda Village Virtual Reserve, BiZhuWanShang, and a gamified Picturebook PDF. The paper aligns with the theme "Research, Remedy, and Repair: Toward Just Education Renewal" and addresses three objectives: sharing practical theories on designing learning environments that emulate real-life language professions, comparing VR and Picturebook PDF's creation of semiotically rich contexts for various educational goals, and analyzing language learning anxiety before and after VR and Picturebook treatments. This study offers insights into how technology-enhanced learning environments support students' psychological well-being and academic success.
