The goal of this qualitative study is to understand how students at four public colleges and universities in California describe: their journeys navigating transfer credit evaluation processes and policies at their institutions, the challenges they face, the reflections on their engagement with the process, and the impact their experiences have had on their academic journeys. It is important to understand what barriers may exist for students in successfully navigating transfer credit evaluation because such barriers can stand in the way of students reaching their educational goals.
