Sat, April 26, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

This review of the literature on doctoral education provides doctoral students and doctoral faculty with strategies for fostering student integration and persistence from program entry to program completion. In addition to organizing strategies according to the five distinct stages in the doctoral journey (entry; knowledge and skill development; consolidation; inquiry and scholarship; and completion), this presentation provides an overview and distinction between research doctorates and professional doctorates, tailoring supports and persistence strategies to meet the nuanced needs of students in each program type.
