Abstract

The Canadian Community Health Survey - Mental Health (CCHS-MH) component has been developed to gather information on Canadians’ mental health and their use of mental-health supports. Information collected from the survey can inform the mental health needs and service use of Canadians. Thus, CCHS-MH is important, as Canadians’ needs for services increase and can vary across different groups. This systematic review informed by the PRISMA framework examined 35 peer-reviewed empirical journal articles that used variables from the CCHS-MH 2012 survey. The results indicate that many different research questions relating to Canadian’s mental health can be studied with the use of the survey. However, inconsistency have been found. Implications for the types of studies conducted on the CCHS-MH and its uses are discussed.
