Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how Black education stakeholders experience gentrification as a racialized process of spatial reinvention. In doing so, I seek to understand how stakeholders, like caregivers, educators, advocates, and students, feel gentrification as a sensation of mind and body. I especially center gentrification’s libidinal economies to counter the overemphasis on market-based analyses in previous school gentrification literature. I ask the following question to accomplish this goal: How do Black education stakeholders narrate their existence in gentrifying school-communities?
