Sat, April 26, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Through a qualitative metasynthesis study design (Hoon, 2003; Thorne, 2022; Ellison, et al., 2024), this research investigated the impact of pandemic remote-education particularly from both BIPOC parents’ and caregivers’ perspectives and aims to develop an extended understanding and knowledge about the relevant issues. The present study qualitative metasynthesis is guided by the following questions:(1) What challenges and opportunities were experienced by BIPOC parents’ and caregivers’ during the COVID-19 era?; (2). From the BIPOC parents’ and caregivers’ perspective, what were the long-term impacts and opportunities for home-school partnerships in the “post” pandemic era? Through the ongoing analysis, emergent themes include disproportional, systematic challenges faced by BIPOC families and parental agency through family and community networks.
