This study responds to 2025 AERA Annual Meeting’s theme as an “attempt to remedy longstanding educational inequalities” in postsecondary education by examining critical factors within an undergraduate research training program mentoring system at a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) preparing students from underrepresented backgrounds for graduate study in educational research. We studied differences in the types of support fellows perceive from an orchestrated network of mentors, comparing students in graduate school with current postbaccalaureates. We analyzed quantitative and qualitative responses from an end-of-program survey administered to fellows using epistemic network analysis to compare both groups through subtracted networks. Results expand our understanding on critical characteristics that an orchestrated mentors network can provide to support minoritized fellows for graduate study in educational research.
