Abstract

This paper will discuss deepening the scholarly collaborations with colleagues at the UFBA’s (Salvador, Brazil) Milton Santos Institute Arts and Humanities Institute as an effort to build upon entry points to collective research. Focusing on the efforts to link ink the Center for Africana Studies and Culture with Milton Santos over two years, with special attention to how an engagement with similarities of mission assisted in making the project an ongoing undertaking. The presentation will utilize photographs from the trip and correspondence to highlight the communication but will also emphasize the cultivation of partnerships between critical scholars. A final salient aspect will be the intentionality around formalizing interactions around the theme of the Quilombo as a theoretical framework for building borderless liberatory networks.
