Abstract

This study explores the leadership strategies of Black superintendents in U.S. school districts to promote educational equity. Grounded in Culturally Responsive Leadership (Khalifa, 2018), it examines how these leaders understand equity, address inequities, and pursue holistic educational renewal for Black students. Their leadership aims to foster excellence while emphasizing reparative justice. Using Counterstorytelling (DeCuir & Dixson, 2004; Solórzano & Yosso, 2002), the study highlights the perspectives and strategies of Black superintendents in their efforts to achieve equity and just educational outcomes within their districts.
