Abstract

As young people develop greater social and political consciousness, elementary schools must think about their role in teaching about social issues. Building on my dissertation research, Little Justice Leaders is implementing social justice curricula in elementary schools. Teaching students about social justice is a practical tool to address damage caused by non-inclusive curricula in schools. Teaching about social justice also invites young people to become part of the movement to dismantle bias and systemic inequity in schools and communities. This poster will demonstrate how an elementary social justice curriculum is impacting youth and educators across the country.
