Abstract

This poster session presents early findings from the "Whose Voice? Our Voice!" YPAR research project by The Circle Keepers, a New York City youth development organization. It highlights the experiences and desires of NYC youth (ages 11-21) regarding peace, justice, safety, and belonging in schools. Using arts-based research methods like photovoice, graffiti-style “Freedom Dreaming” walls, and podcast recording sessions, youth explore the impact of punitive school discipline policies, which disproportionately criminalize Black and Brown children as well as their aboli
