Dual Language as Cultural Integration (Poster 38)

Abstract

We are examine dual language program at two schools in the Phoenix area as spaces of cultural integration. Language barriers can be segregating. We are interviewing students (who have been in the program for at least two years), and doing focus groups with parents (who have had children in the program for at least two years) & teachers. Unfortunately in Arizona the Superintendent Tom Horne has been attacking these programs but we seek to show the inclusiveness & how it even effects the home life of these students.
