Fri, April 25, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Food, especially the sharing of meals, offer spaces to ask questions, share stories, ruminate on the past, and dream about the future. In this chapter, the authors share part of a multi-year journey to better understand their own family histories and the impact these histories may have on their commitments as social studies educators. Authors share reflections of self, family, community, and classroom practice as they discuss the intersections of food, identity, power, and privilege.
