Abstract

Foodways are a product of history, culture, and power. We are reminded of the presence and power of collard greens in our disparate but also shared lived experiences. We assemble vignettes to understand how a white European American woman and a biracial man – two seemingly vastly different identities – connected over a leafy green, how they experience collard greens in their cultural communities, and how these shared experiences offer insights for participating in academia.
