Abstract

There is a deep need for teacher voice, particularly the voices of Black teachers, in education research. This paper showcases a recent study centered solely on Black teachers' voices in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV). The study aims to highlight the voices of Black teachers in the DMV as they reflect upon their hiring process and the subsequent effects on the quality of their work experience, job satisfaction, opportunities for advancement, and, ultimately, the diversity of the educator workforce. Gain insights into the research team’s theoretical framework, research methodology, recruitment strategy, and preservation efforts to ensure these teacher voices are never lost again.
