Abstract

Dr. Alston is Chair and Professor of Miami University’s Department of Educational Leadership and formerly the director of the Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies at Ashland University. Dr. Alston will speak to how she navigates her various roles as faculty, administrator and scholar as she remains committed to her research that focuses on black female superintendents, social Justice reform, and spirituality, as well as black LGBTQI issues and leadership. She will draw on insights from her co-edited book, The Undivided Life, that explores how faculty of color can survive and thrive within the institution of higher education.
