Abstract

This conceptual paper draws on existing literature, archival research and personal correspondence to examine the insights and challenges of conducting education research within the Vietnamese community. It further seeks to deconstruct the idea that Vietnamese are monoliths. While there are many things that connect Vietnamese living in the U.S, including shared customs, cultural practices and language, the Vietnamese diaspora, often referred as Việt Kiều (overseas Vietnamese) does not always share commonality.
