Sat, April 26, 11:40am to 1:10pm MDT (11:40am to 1:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Mile High Ballroom 2A and 3A

Abstract

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) educators are a minoritized racial group that is often lumped into the broader definition of racially minoritized groups. This exploratory mixed methods research study investigates if the challenges faced by educators of color are generalizable to the challenges faced specifically by AAPI educators. The study also investigates if the retention strategies recommended to retain educators of color are generalizable to retain AAPI educators specifically. The AsianCrit framework and its tenets will serve as anchors to this study to understand the perceptions of AAPI educators on their challenges and retention strategies in the educational profession.
