Fri, April 25, 11:40am to 1:10pm MDT (11:40am to 1:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Mile High Ballroom 2A and 3A

Abstract

This study explores digital play in a Korean kindergarten classroom, focusing on the interactions between children and digital devices. Children are surrounded by various digital technologies at both home and school. Through a New Materialism perspective, this study discovers the co-constitutive agency of human and non-human entities (e.g., children and digital devices). The teacher and 16 five-year-old children in Seoul participated in the study. Qualitative research methods including participant observation and interviews were employed.
