Abstract

Despite the importance of teacher and student enjoyment and the factors contributing to it, there is less research on the reciprocity of enjoyment between teachers and students. This reciprocal relationship has the potential to create a positive loop, where teachers and students are continually motivating and inspiring each other. The study focuses on finding the correlational strength between teacher- and student- enjoyment. We ran a longitudinal field study that included self-reports from teachers and students. We are using a multilevel data structure approach, with students nested within classrooms & teachers. We hypothesize that (a) teacher enjoyment and student enjoyment will be positively correlated and (b) that the relationship would be reciprocal, with both teachers and students influencing the others’ enjoyment.
