Abstract

The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance innovation; however, relying on homogeneous AI recommendations may threaten personal uniqueness, thereby compromising innovation. Fostering innovation requires individuals’ innovative work behavior to generate, promote, and realize novel ideas, breaking away from the status quo. Nevertheless, AI recommendations are often homogeneous because they are generated from algorithms using shared common datasets. Relying on AI recommendations may lead to individuals to adhere to an AI-generated status quo, stifle their unique ideas, diminishing innovation. This study will deploy a quantitative two-wave mediation analysis to examine how AI-contextualized personal sense of uniqueness, as a mediator, is influenced by AI reliance behavior, inclusive leadership, and climate for innovation, and in turn, influences innovative work behavior.
