Abstract

High schools face barriers to hands-on molecular lab techniques like gel electrophoresis (GE) due to costs, safety, and limited resources. This study examines VR labs as a solution, using quantitive methods to evaluate their impact on 180 high school students’ understanding, engagement, and motivation. Using traditional videos, students are divided into VR, hands-on experiments, and control groups. Pre- and post-questionnaires are used to assess learning outcomes, and the Reformed Classroom Observation Protocol (RTOP) is used to evaluate high school students' engagement and motivation during class. Results are expected to show VR significantly enhances learning, offering a safe, cost-effective alternative to physical labs. This research highlights VR’s potential to democratize science education and improve complex biology teaching.
