Abstract

As part of building the evidence on African-centered Education (ACE) for preschool education, this proposed project is investigating parents’ characteristics and motivations for enrolling their young children in these settings. In particular, this study will explore the distinguishing features of ACE schooling that are most often cited as influencing parents’ decisions to enroll their children in ACE, including the resources that parents commit to ACE schooling for their children. Much of the extant ACE-related research is on students in the upper grades; however, this proposed project is focused on preschool-age children.
