Fri, April 25, 11:40am to 1:10pm MDT (11:40am to 1:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Mile High Ballroom 2A and 3A

Abstract

This study examines the integration of artificial intelligence and digital storytelling in civic virtue education. Using Book Creator and Claude, a large language model, the research explores how AI can foster civic narratives while promoting student agency and authenticity. The study introduces The Comprehensive AI-enhanced Civic Education Framework (CAICEF), which synthesizes principles of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), Culturally Responsive Computing (CRC), Connected Learning Theory, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Data collection includes AI interaction analysis, digital artifacts, interviews, and reflective journals. Preliminary findings from Spring 2025 will provide insights into AI-student collaboration, multimodal storytelling's impact on civic engagement, and ethical AI use in humanities education, advancing innovative methods for cultivating civic virtues and preserving cultural narratives.
