Abstract

This study examines the impact of Virtual Exchange (VE) on enhancing cross-cultural competence among pre-service teachers (PSTs) in the U.S. and China. Drawing from Taoist philosophy and case study methodology, the research integrates harmony and circular interaction to foster intercultural understanding. Using qualitative and quantitative data from VE programs, including lesson plans, course records, and surveys, the findings reveal significant improvements in PSTs' intercultural awareness, teaching motivation, and pedagogical insights. By combining VE technology with Taoist teaching principle, the study offers an innovative framework for global teacher education, demonstrating VE's potential to transform teaching practices and promote inclusive, multicultural learning environments. These results underscore the scalability and relevance of VE in today's global education.
