Abstract

School violence remains a serious concern among stakeholders in the global secondary education system. Following that comes a discussion of gun availability among youth in the United States, insurgency and kidnapping of students and teachers in Nigeria, school stabbings in South Africa, and other forms of violence in different parts of the world have affected the safe and secure learning environment which is a requirement and a fundamental condition without which both learning and teaching cannot take place. This study aims to promote school safety globally. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study. Results of the current study suggest that various countries have different school safety policies. However, the effects of these policies are relatively low.
