Abstract

the study explores the factors that influence female students' STEM major choices such as race, academic ability, high school grades, mother's career, mother's education and financial aid. The study used the lens of social cognitive career theory and it draws upon a data set of college freshman female students who are U.S citizens. To analyze the data binary logistic regression was used. The findings revealed that academic ability, high school grades and financial aid are the factors that impact the studnets' college STEM major choices.
