Abstract

In response to the rising rates of child trauma, the past decade has seen growing research on trauma-informed pedagogies and practices in schools, and more recently, grief. While this scholarship has contributed significantly to education, it often examines grief and trauma separately, failing to explore their relationship or position grief as a trauma-informed healing practice. This study seeks to expand trauma-informed and healing-centered scholarship by centering grief as a vital, often overlooked component of healing. Using Chicana Feminist Pláticas with Teachers of Color, I aim to understand the spatial and political dimensions of grief and trauma for both Teachers and Students of Color.
