Abstract

This study explores the impact of culturally responsive-sustaining pedagogy (CRSP) in mathematics classrooms on student engagement, achievement, and identity formation. By integrating CRSP, the research aims to address the historical marginalization of students from diverse backgrounds in mathematics education and repair the harm by fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data from diverse mathematics classrooms and includes a CRSP-focused professional development program for teachers. The findings provide evidence-based strategies for improving mathematical understanding and closing achievement gaps.
